Thinking Europe
Under ‘Thinking Europe’, you get an overview of all activities with an obvious link to Europe. It is a selection of debates, encounters, lectures and exhibitions of larger EUNIC (European Union National Institutes For Culture) projects.
deBuren is situated in the heart of Brussels, in the centre of Europe. The Flemish-Dutch House wants to be a link in Cultural Europe and wants to point out that culture is of great importance for the realization of European cohesion. deBuren presents the culture, language and community of the Low Countries in a European context to Europe, but also organizes debates and exchanges concerning cultural, social and political topics with European partners.

When Luc Deleu founded T.O.P. office, he chose a call to arms as name: Turn On Planning! Starting from a commitment to current issues concerning world population, pollution of the environment and the friction between the individual and society, he developed an ecocentric form of urbanism on a global scale: orbanism. Between them, the photographers made city portraits of Chartres, Graz and Venice. The exhibition is organised by citybookspartner NEXT and runs until the 24th of February. During the opening, authors Milena M. Flašar, Lydia Mischkulnig, Andrea Stift and Werner Schandor will be in attendance.

Students of Translation Studies at both the Hogeschool Gent and the University of Mons/Bergen worked on literary translations for deBuren concurrently. While students in Mons translated the Radiobook Erfenis (translated into English under the title Legacy) by Joseph Pears from Dutch into French, students from Ghent took care of the Dutch version of the originally French citybook Partrimoine immatériel by Caroline Lamarche. The translations will be festively presented in the presence of authors and students.
