To mark the European Day of Languages on 26th September, the Brussels Metro system will host a collection of poems in key stations across Brussels. The collection – entitled Transpoesie - includes 21 poems from 21 European countries, in 18 different languages. The poems will appear on posters in their original language alongside translations in French and Dutch. The launch of the project will be accompanied by a festival of cultural events focusing on poetry, multilingualism and movement.
Flash Mob Dance - Come and join the Flash Mob Dance in four of the metro stations, where the poems will be displayed. Starting at Gare du Midi/Zuidstation at 17:30, the Flash Mob Dancers will move to Porte de Namur/Naamsepoort, Merode and Roodebeek. Watch the choreograpy in the YouTube movie beneath!
Debut Award Ceremony Het Liegend Konijn and literary event at PassaPorta - Other cultural events as part of the Transpoesie project include public poetry readings and discussions at the international house of literature PassaPorta in Brussels on 26th September with the presence of Transpoesie poets including Lieke Marsman, winner of the biannual Poetry Debut Award organised by deBuren and Het Liegend Konijn. The Transpoesie poets will also read at the public Poetry Debut Award ceremony for Lieke Marsman that will take place at the Dutch Embassy in Brussels on September 27th.
