Europees Parlement, Room Yehudi Menuhin, Wiertzstraat 60, 1047 Brussels

Subtitled in English

In the context of the Year of Intercultural Dialogue, EUNIC Brussels will be presenting a film festival in collaboration with the European Parliament. Members of the European Parliament will be acting as ambassadors and introducing the film selected for their country. The film Maybe Sweden (NL, director Margien Rogaar), with English subtitles, will be introduced by Joost Lagendijk (GreenLeft).

The film
Five literature-lovers are spending a reading holiday in a country house in a warm Mediterranean country. The weather is perfect. They talk about literature and drink cocktails at the pool. Suddenly they are visited by refugees from Ghana who are on their way to the North.

'Maybe Sweden' is the first film by Margien Rogaar, and is based on improvisations by theatre ensemble Wunderbaum. The film shows us the ambiguous Western attitude to aliens in a very simple and familiar way, as well as confronting us with the paradox of multicultural society.
