Can we learn something from the past of Congo to improve our understanding of the country in the present and the future? David Van Reybrouck (Congo. Een geschiedenis - Congo. A history) and Koen Vidal (Futur Simple) present their books and search for answers. Gert Oostindie (Postkoloniaal Nederland – The postcolonial Netherlands), director of the The Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies, analyses the current development policy for traces of our colonial past. Rik Delhaas (VPRO) moderates the discussion.
In the framework of the festival ‘Allez Congo’. From the 9th till the 12th of September 2010 in De Brakke Grond in Amsterdam.
